Select a category from the drop-down menu and learn about examples.<\/p>\n<p>This will help you build an understanding of how alternatives can be implemented in a range of settings. The categoies in this database are defined below:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Asylum seekers <\/b><b>&#8211; <\/b>A person who has made an application to be recognised as a refugee but who has not yet received a final decision on that application<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Migrants <\/b>&#8211; A person within a State\u2019s territory who is a citizen of another State or a stateless person from another territory<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Refugees <\/b>A person recognised by a qualified authority as having a legitimate claim under the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Returnees \u2013 <\/b>People who have been assisted or independently returned to the country of origin, transit or another third country<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Deportees &#8211; <\/b>A<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>person<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>who<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>is<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>not<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>considered<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>as<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>a<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>national<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>by<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>any<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>State<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>under the operation of its law.
